COL. HÉCTOR L. COLÓN
Recipient of the Hispanic
Achievement Award for Leadership

A native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Col. Colón enlisted in the Army in 1975 and served as a missile system repairman. He graduated from the University of Puerto Rico and was commissioned in the Finance Corps in 1981. Colón earned an MBA from Butler University and a master’s degree in strategic studies from the Army War College. In 2005, he became the commander/director of the Defense Finance and Accounting Service in Orlando. He’s been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Army Meritorious Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Inter-American Defense Board Medal and the Army Parachute Badge.

Recipient of the LATINA OF
EXCELLENCE AWARD for Leadership

A New Mexico native, Lt. Col. Lucero received her bachelor’s degree from Eastern New Mexico University and a master’s degree from Webster University. A graduate of the Army’s Command and General Staff College, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, the Adjutant General Advanced and Basic Courses and others, her decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and the Parachutist Badge. She is a community leader, working with underprivileged children and thrice earning the Oklahoma City Volunteer of the Year award.
