Editor’s Letter
It’s
hard to believe a year has gone by since our last Power Issue, and
yet here we are again, creating a list of the Latinos who have flexed
their muscle this year. We continue to find great diversity among
those who make up the list. Not only in background, but also in
their chosen fields. Of course, the list is not all encompassing.
Rather, it is a snapshot of the most influential faces, in front
or behind the scenes, as well as those who are quickly becoming
a force to be reckoned with.
Also as part of our power issue, Father Alberto Cutié, who
heads a faith-based media empire, reveals why the message matters
more than the means of delivery. Adriana Arevalo, news director
for Univision’s affiliate in Las Vegas, gives us a glimpse
into the world of Spanish-language broadcasts, and we take a look
at the unprecedented philanthropic efforts of the ALAS foundation,
which brings together the finest artistic talent and the most powerful
businessmen in Latin America to fight poverty in the continent.
Finally, a photo essay on the last remaining superheroes: the masked
warriors of lucha libre.
For this issue we have also compiled our annual list of the top
100 companies offering the best employment opportunities to Hispanics.
And as always, Hispanic brings you the best in travel, cars, style,
technology, plus our monthly columns.
Enjoy!
